Welcome to the Penshurst Blog
Sending out a welcoming message to all.
After a number of discussions, the Penshurst Progress Association has decided to implement a News Page as an online platform to efficiently output information, this will work in conjunction with and alongside the hardcopy fortnightly Newsletters and email updates. In web language, the News Page would be called a Blog, to put it simply, this word comes from the combination of the words Web and Log which dates back to the earlier days of the Internet.
At this point, the role of the News Blog is to update locals and visitors on events, happenings, current news and things of interest that may inspire, inform and impact in various ways on the community for locals and visitors alike. We are always grateful for the fortnightly Newsletter which informs many people who are not so comfortable with Internet technology or prefer a hardcopy, but having an easy access digital platform for updates at irregular intervals is useful to the community, particularly as we navigate through ‘covid times’.
This News Page is not here for outputting any political, community or personal ‘agendas’.
What you may find here are things such as bushfire or other weather warnings, helpful hints for dealing with any local issues or announcements from community groups, things related to community events, arts or other projects. What may also be worth considering is using this as a platform for anyone with an abundance of produce that they wish to share with others. We may even look at ‘profiling’ some local business which are established or emerging, this will be of great use to newcomers; or some articles on handy hints, how this iwill be done is trial and error and assessing what works best for this community who use the Page.
In the near future we will develop a set of standards relating to content, images and videos etc for those wishing to contribute to make the job easier for contributors and admin alike.
